Lux - Simplified chiral LC

Lux is a new line of polysaccharide-based chiral stationary phases to provide a straightforward approach to enantiomeric recognition and separation through HPLC (NP and RP) and SFC.

Lux columns are offered with two chiral stationary phases (CSPs), both of which use coated derivatized cellulose as the chiral selector (available in 3um and 5um particle).

The selectivity of Lux Amylose-2 is an complement to your chiral screen. Lux Amylose-2 uses a unique halogenated derivative that offers a broad range of enantioselectivity, previously unavailable commercially.

Uses the chiral selector cellulose tris(3-chloro-4-methylphenylcarbamate):
It has been established that the introduction of either electron-donating or electron-withdrawing groups, such as chlorine, tends to improve the optical resolution abilities of CSPs with phenylcarbamate derivatives. In addition, substitution at the meta or para position on the phenyl moiety is considered more beneficial than at the ortho position to establish higher chiral recognition1.

This unique derivatization of Lux Cellulose-2 makes it an ideal CSP to add to all chiral screening protocols and provides excellent complementary selectivity to Lux Cellulose-1 in many applications.


Studies have shown that for a set of 14 racemates of varying properties, the 3-chloro-4-methylphenylcarbamate derivative of cellulose was one of the few commercialized phases that separated all 14 compounds with α >1.01.

Uses the chiral selector cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate):
This particular chiral selector has well established abilities in resolving a wide range of racemates. Lux Cellulose-1 provides enhanced resolution for a variety of applications compared to similar CSPs.
