Retains Polar Compounds
HILIC is orthogonal to reversed phase chromatography. Polar compounds that receive very little retention in reversed phase, will receive maximum retention in HILIC mode. Reversal of elution order will be observed.
Luna HILIC columns retain a water-enriched layer on the surface of the silica. This water layer facilitates partitioning of polar analytes from the high organic mobile phase to the hydrophilic stationary phase resulting in increased retention of polar compounds.
Use Luna HILIC for:
- Ideal conditions for mass spectrometry
- Alternative selectivity
- Better polar compound retention than reversed phase
- Sharp peak shape
- Reproducible results
